Volker
Schlott Quartet (VSQ)
sind:
Volker
Schlott (saxes); Jürgen Heckel (g); Martin Lillich (b); Uli
Moritz (dr)
| For four
years the band exists in this cast. It achieved a high degree at
integration in this time. Ensemble play and soli turn smoothly into
another. Moritz who transforms his drums into a percusionarsenal,
provides for complex rhythmic structures. Lillich plays fine lines on
the double bass, good grooves on the electric bass guitar, and
filigranes on the acoustic bass guitar. Since the establishment of the
quartet thereby and bravorous in the play: Jürgen Heckel. Volker
Schlott floats not like the bandleader over all at, he meets on stage
with friends. No one can pretend such an enthusiasm when making music.
The results is maintenance with playably ease, although no innovative
air jumps. Volker Schlott writes memoryzy, songful themes for the
band, which he in run the play increases intensively. In close
passages everything is contained, although nothing is formulated, the
energy of rock, the sovereignty of the free jazz. In view of the
longer becoming following of the imitators, the quartet proved an
authentic version of contemporary jazz making music. Bert Noglik (Concert at the Moritzbastei, Halle (Saale), April 1999, shorted) |
